Manchester United vs Tottenham Preview:
Probable starting lineups:
De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Darmian; Blind, Matic; Young, Mkhitaryan, Martial; Lukaku
Lloris; Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen; Trippier, Dembele, Dier, Davies; Eriksen, Dele Alli; Harry Kane
Manchester United are still on the second position with 20 points, leveled with their actual opponents Tottenham. The Red Devils dropped the points against Huddersfield last weekend losing 2:1. Manager Jose Mourinho was furious after the match and said his players deserved the defeat. The Special One will most probably make some changes in the starting eleven. Manchester United have kept a clean sheet in 9 of their last 10 matches in the Premier League, but the match with newly promoted Huddersfield was an exception at all. According to me, Phil Jones' injury was the key reason for that. He was replaced by Victor Lindelof during the first half and Lindelof was awful. However, there are some good news for Mourinho - Eric Bailly and Phil Jones should be available for this match. Now the biggest issues are in the midfield with Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick all sidelined due to injuries. Ander Herrera picked up an ankle injury against Swansea City on Tuesday and he is rated as doubtful.
As I wrote above, Tottenham are sharing the second place with Manchester United. Last weekend they outplayed Liverpool and managed to win 4:1. Harry Kane scored a brace, while Heung-Min Son and Delle Ali also found the back of the net. It was a stunning performance by the Spurs and the fans left Wembley very satisfied. The tally of 20 points after 9 rounds is their best start to a top-flight season since 1963. However, Tottenham lost 3:2 to West Ham in Carabao Cup on Wednesday. The defeat was even more painful as they had a two-goal advantage after the first half. Manager Mauricio Pochetino rotated the players in that match and rested the key player Harry Kane. while Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele made their comebacks in the team. Of course, the best striker should lead the attack at Old Trafford. Most of the players are ready, only Victor Wanyama and Erik Lamela remain sidelined.
Manchester United have won the last three mutual games played at Old Trafford. Even more, Mourinho has won all five of his home matches against Pochettino
Manchester United vs Tottenham Prediction:
I expect both teams to score in this match. Manchester United suffered the first defeat last weekend and I believe Mourinho gave a lesson to his players. The Red Devils now play at home where they have scored 14 goals on 4 matches. Tottenham, meanwhile, are in excellent form, especially on road. They have won six successive Premier League away matches and the players confidence is very high after last weekend's victory over Liverpool.
