Liverpool vs Huddersfield Preview:
Probable starting lineups:
Karius, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Matip, Alberto Moreno, Wijnaldum, Henderson, Emre Can, Salah, Firmino, Coutinho
Lossl, Smith, Zanka, Schindler, Lowe, Williams, Hogg, Ince, Mooy, Parra, Depoitre
Liverpool are in the middle of the table with 13 points. The leaders Manchester City have 25, so the fans are disappointed. The atmosphere in the club is bad following the defeat to Tottenham in the last round. The Reds were completely outplayed and lost 4:1 at Wembley. Manager Jurgen Klopp is under pressure, as so the players. That is why this match is extremely important, victory here is almost an imperative. But Klopp has huge problems, particularly in defense. Dejan Lovren made two huge mistakes against Tottenham, so I expect Joe Gomez to start in the heart of the defence in place of the Croatian centre-back, who was withdrawn against Spurs in the 31st minute. That means Trent Alexander-Arnold will be on the right-back position. Klopp is also said to be considering a change of goalkeeper. Simon Mignolet could be benched after a disastrous display last weekend and Loris Karius is ready to step in. The German coach has some additional issues as Sadio Mane remain sidelined due to injury. Mane is the best player in the team and he is simply irreplaceable. Adam Lallana, Adam Bogdan and Nathaniel Clyne are also out injured.
Huddersfield have 12 points, just one less than Liverpool. They were fantastic on Saturday and managed to beat Manchester United for the first time in 65 years. The fans celebrated one of their best victories in decades after Aaron Mooy and Laurent Depoitre secured a 2:1 win against Jose Mourinho's men. The atmosphere in the squad is just perfect, while the players confidence is very high. Manager David Wagner is doing a good job and he will try to upset his good friend Jurgen Klopp (the duo worked together at Borussia Dortmund). The tactic will be similar, strong defense and fast counter-attacks. The Terriers had only 22 percent of ball possession against the Red Devils, but still won. Wagner has six injury worries - Jon Gorenc Stankovic, Kasey Palmer, Collin Quaner, Michael Hefele and Philip Billing are definitely sidelined, while Elias Kachunga is rated as doubtful.
Liverpool vs Huddersfield Prediction:
I expect both teams to score at Anfield. Liverpool lost to Tottenham and they must go for the victory here. I expect a full offensive from the very first minute. But there will be a lot of space for Huddersfield fast counter-attacks. The Terriers scored twice against Manchester United and the players confidence is high. Considering the defensive crisis at Liverpool, I believe that Huddersfield could score, at least.
