Probable starting lineups:
Courtois, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Cahill, Alonso, Fabregas, Bakayoko, Zappacosta, Pedro, Hazard, Morata
Gomes, Mariappa, Kabasele, Britos, Holebas, Doucoure, Cleverley, Femenia, Richarlison, Deeney, Pereyra
Nobody were expecting Chelsea and Watford to be neighbors on the table after eight rounds. Even more, Watford have 15 points and sit on the fourth place, while Chelsea have only 13 points. In some way this is a derby match in the Premier League. Of course, Chelsea are big favorites and it is understandable - the Blues are the official champions and they will play at Stamford Bridge. However, the actual form is far from desired, they have no win on the last three matches across all competitions. On Wednesday Conte's men played a 3:3 draw with Roma in London, while previously suffered a shock defeat from the bottom side in the Premier League, Crystal Palace. Before that, they lost to Manchester City at home, so the gap with the leaders is huge nine points at the moment. The poor form isn't the only concern for the Italian coach. In addition, he has lot of injury issues ahead of this match. Victor Moses, Danny Drinkwater and N'Golo Kante are sidelined, while Tiemoue Bakayoko, David Luiz and Gary Cahill are rated as doubtful after all sustained knocks in the match against Roma.
Watford are the surprise package of the season. The Hornets play very good this season and have just one defeat so far, from the leaders Manchester City. The actual form is solid, Watford are coming into this fixture with two wins and one draw from the last three matches. Last weekend they managed to beat Arsenal at their home ground with 2:1. The atmosphere in the squad is positive, while the players confidence is high. The Gunners had one-goal advantage after the first half, but Troy Deeney (from penalty) and Tom Cleverley turned the result in the second half. At this point I will mention that Watford have scored two goals in each of the last three matches. Manager Marco Silva has lot of injured players, although only Issas Success is a new injury victim. However, Tommie Hoban, Craig Cathcart, Nathaniel Chalobah and Younes Kaboul remain sidelined, while Sebastian Prodl is doubtful.
I will add that the last two mutual games played at Stamford Bridge have produced 11 goals. Look the results:
15.05.2017. Chelsea v Watford 4:3
26.12.2015. Chelsea v Watford 2:2
Chelsea vs Watford Prediction:
I expect both teams to score in this match. Chelsea managed to score three goals against Roma on Wednesday, but also conceded three. Watford are in solid form and the players confidence is high after they beat Arsenal last week. I think they are able to upset Courtois.
